Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 8 slices of bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of American cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise for garlic aioli
  • 1 clove garlic minced (for garlic aioli)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice for garlic aioli

Method

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to make the garlic aioli. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled bacon, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  4. Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into loose balls.
  5. Place the balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form patties. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the edges are crispy.
  6. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns on the skillet until golden brown.
  8. Assemble the burgers by spreading a generous amount of garlic aioli on the bottom bun, adding the patty, and topping with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Place the top bun on and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding pickles or jalapeños to the burgers.
  • You can swap out the American cheese for cheddar or pepper jack for a different taste.
  • For a lighter version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
