Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once the butter has melted and is bubbling, add 3 minced garlic cloves, 1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, and 2 to 3 dashes of hot pepper sauce. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Next, add the 1.5-inch pieces of fresh asparagus, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Sauté for 8 to 10 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
  3. While the asparagus is cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving a bit of pasta water.
  4. Return the drained pasta to the skillet with the asparagus. Add 1/2 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a splash of pasta water. Toss together over low heat for about 2 minutes until the pasta is coated.
  5. Serve the Pasta with Asparagus immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan and crushed red pepper flakes if desired. Can be enjoyed hot, cold, or at room temperature.
