Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once the butter has melted and is bubbling, add 3 minced garlic cloves, 1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, and 2 to 3 dashes of hot pepper sauce. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Next, add the 1.5-inch pieces of fresh asparagus, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Sauté for 8 to 10 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
- While the asparagus is cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving a bit of pasta water.
- Return the drained pasta to the skillet with the asparagus. Add 1/2 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a splash of pasta water. Toss together over low heat for about 2 minutes until the pasta is coated.
- Serve the Pasta with Asparagus immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan and crushed red pepper flakes if desired. Can be enjoyed hot, cold, or at room temperature.
