Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter with 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 diced yellow onion and sauté for about 5 minutes.
  3. Incorporate 2 minced garlic cloves and 8 ounces of chopped cremini mushrooms into the skillet, cooking for another 8 minutes.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, add 4 ounces of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan, and optionally 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard. Stir until smooth.
  5. Roll out 1 sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut 8 diagonal strips along each side.
  6. Spread the filling along the center, fold the edges over, and braid the strips.
  7. Transfer to the baking sheet, brush the top with a beaten egg, and bake for 20-22 minutes.
  8. Let it cool for about 10 minutes, slice, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
