Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 2 cups gluten-free flour Choose a high-quality blend.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Sea salt is recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Ensure it's gluten-free.
  • 1 cup warm water Activates the baking powder.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Can substitute with avocado or coconut oil.
Optional Flavor Enhancements
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For extra flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon dried herbs Add to taste.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Non-stick frying pan
  • Rolling Pin

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together gluten-free flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  2. Create a well in the center and pour in warm water and olive oil. Mix by hand or with a spoon until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. If the dough seems too dry, add a little more warm water to achieve a smooth and slightly elastic consistency.
  4. Place a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and let it preheat for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Drizzle a splash of olive oil if desired to enhance flavor and prevent sticking.
  6. Divide the dough into equal portions, about the size of golf balls. On a lightly floured surface, flatten each portion to about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Cook the flatbread in the heated pan for 2-3 minutes until bubbles appear and the underside is golden brown.
  8. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are browned.
  9. Remove the cooked flatbreads from the pan and serve warm with your choice of toppings.
