Step-by-Step Instructions for Famous Cream Puffs
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of butter, 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Place over medium heat and bring to a rolling boil.
  2. Remove from heat and quickly add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, stirring vigorously. Mix for 2-3 minutes until a smooth ball of dough forms.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. After the dough cools, beat in 4 eggs one at a time until smooth and glossy.
  5. Using a tablespoon or piping bag, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack for 20-30 minutes. Make a small slit in each puff to release steam.
  8. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of prepared vanilla pudding mix until creamy.
  9. Fill each cooled puff with the creamy filling using a piping bag.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving and enjoy with fresh berries or chocolate drizzle.
