Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Rinse 1 cup of jasmine or brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook according to package instructions, typically bringing 2 cups of water to a boil, adding the rice, reducing heat to low, covering, and simmering for 15-20 minutes until tender and fluffy.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and no longer pink.
  3. Once the beef is browned, add 3 minced garlic cloves and a tablespoon of freshly grated ginger to the skillet. Stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in 1/4 cup of soy sauce and sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar over the beef. Stir well and let it simmer for about 3-5 minutes.
