  • 1 cup Chicken Stock or beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons Shaoxing Wine or dry sherry, optional
  • 2 tablespoons Dark Soy Sauce omit if necessary
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar or white sugar, coconut sugar optional
For the Vegetables
  • 2 cups Broccoli or snap peas/bell peppers
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger freshly grated

Method
 

Step-By-Step Instructions
  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into ½-cm thick strips and marinate with soy sauce, peanut oil, and cornstarch for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Whisk together chicken stock, Shaoxing wine, dark soy sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar to make the sauce.
  3. Bring a skillet of water to boil, add broccoli and steam for 1 minute until bright green. Set aside.
  4. Heat peanut oil in the same skillet, sear the marinated beef for about 30 seconds on one side, then flip and cook until lightly charred, about 1-2 minutes more.
  5. Add minced garlic and ginger to the beef, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Combine the steamed broccoli with the beef and sauce, stirring for about 1 minute until the sauce thickens.
