Step-by-Step Instructions

  2. In a skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat for 4-5 minutes until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. Using the bacon drippings, sauté the finely chopped onion for 5-6 minutes until soft and translucent.
  4. In the baking dish, mix baked beans, sautéed onion, and 3/4 of the crispy bacon. Add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, and vinegar if using.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining bacon on top and bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes until bubbly and caramelized.
