Step-by-Step Instructions for Air Fried Mini Blooming Onions
  1. Start by microwaving the frozen pearl onions for about 2 minutes, just long enough to thaw slightly. Drain any excess water and pat the onions dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat one egg until well combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder to make the coating.
  3. Dunk each pearl onion in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Return to the flour mixture for a second coating.
  4. Refrigerate the coated onions on a plate for 10 minutes to help the coating adhere.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes.
  6. Place the coated onions in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with oil. Air fry for 3 minutes, then shake the basket and spray with more oil.
  7. Continue to air fry the onions for an additional 3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
