- Start by microwaving the frozen pearl onions for about 2 minutes, just long enough to thaw slightly. Drain any excess water and pat the onions dry with a paper towel.
- In a medium bowl, beat one egg until well combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder to make the coating.
- Dunk each pearl onion in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Return to the flour mixture for a second coating.
- Refrigerate the coated onions on a plate for 10 minutes to help the coating adhere.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the coated onions in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with oil. Air fry for 3 minutes, then shake the basket and spray with more oil.
