- Melt 1 tablespoon of salted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ½ small diced yellow onion and sauté until softened for about 3-5 minutes.
- Add 12 ounces of sliced mushrooms along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender.
- Introduce 2 cloves of minced garlic and 3 sprigs of fresh thyme to the pan. Cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Pour in ½ cup of white wine to deglaze the skillet, scraping up browned bits. Allow to simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
- Reduce heat and stir in ½ cup of chicken broth and ⅔ cup of heavy whipping cream. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- To thicken, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and gradually stir it into the sauce until thickened.
- Remove from heat, garnish with 3 tablespoons of chopped parsley, and serve immediately over grilled meats or pasta.
