Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and whole milk until well blended.
- Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, forming a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes on a floured surface until it's smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
- Prepare desired fillings, refrigerate them for 30 minutes to thicken.
- Punch down the risen dough, roll it out to a thickness of about ½ inch and cut into rounds.
- Let doughnuts rise for another 30 minutes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry doughnuts in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Once warm, toss in cinnamon sugar or glaze made from powdered sugar and reduced apple cider.
- Allow the glazed doughnuts to cool on a wire rack before serving.
