Description
A hearty and delicious Tater Tot Breakfast Bowl topped with savory sausage gravy, perfect for a filling breakfast.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups frozen tater tots
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F. Spread the frozen tater tots on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
- While the tater tots are baking, cook the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
- Once the sausage is cooked, sprinkle the flour over it and stir to combine. Cook for an additional minute to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In a separate pan, cook the eggs to your preference (scrambled, fried, or poached).
- To assemble, place a generous portion of tater tots in a bowl, top with sausage gravy, add the cooked eggs, and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. Garnish with sliced green onions.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your hearty breakfast bowl!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sausage gravy.
- Substitute the breakfast sausage with turkey sausage or a plant-based sausage for a lighter or vegetarian option.
