Description

Pumpkin Spice French Toast is a delicious fall breakfast that combines the flavors of pumpkin and warm spices for a delightful morning treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices of thick-cut bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt until well combined.
  2. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or oil to coat the surface.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the pumpkin mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side. Let any excess batter drip off.
  4. Place the soaked bread slices onto the preheated skillet or griddle. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Repeat with the remaining slices, adding more butter or oil as needed.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of milk.
  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter for added crunch and flavor.
