- 1 block (14 ounces) firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix the cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Toss the tofu cubes in the cornstarch mixture until evenly coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated tofu cubes in a single layer.
- Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the tofu from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the tofu in soy sauce for 15-30 minutes before coating with cornstarch.
- Try adding a sprinkle of chili flakes or a drizzle of sriracha for a spicy kick.
