Description
A refreshing summer drink made with fresh cherries and lime juice, perfect for hot days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 8–10 limes)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups sparkling water
- Lime slices, for garnish
- Fresh cherries, for garnish
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the pitted cherries, lime juice, and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the cherries soften, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Once cooled, strain the cherry mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove the solids, pressing down on the cherries to extract as much juice as possible.
- Add the sparkling water to the cherry-lime mixture in the pitcher and stir gently to combine.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the cherry limeade over the ice.
- Garnish each glass with lime slices and a few whole cherries. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a frozen treat, blend the cherry-lime mixture with ice to create a slushy version.
- Substitute agave syrup or honey for granulated sugar for a different sweetness profile.
