Description

A savory delight recipe featuring cheesy French onion meatballs that are flavorful and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer the meatballs back to the baking sheet.
  5. In the same skillet, add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Bring to a simmer, then pour the broth mixture over the meatballs.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese on top of the meatballs. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Let the meatballs cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms to the meat mixture for extra flavor and texture.
