Description
Bacon Bourbon Meatball Subs are a delicious combination of savory meatballs made with ground beef, pork, and bacon, served in hoagie rolls and topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped bacon, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and stir gently to coat.
- Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through. Place them on a baking sheet.
- Spoon the meatball and sauce mixture into each hoagie roll, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Return the loaded hoagie rolls to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a splash of hot sauce to the meatball mixture.
- You can use a different type of cheese like provolone or cheddar.
- To make it a bit healthier, substitute ground turkey for the beef and pork.
